Day One Activity for Global IT Management Classes

    • Log into your Gmail account. If you don’t have one, create one or log into your school account.
      1. Your username and password for your GUHSD.net gmail account.
        1. Username Format: studentID#@guhsd.net  |  Password Format: FLMMDDYY (First Initial Last Initial 2 digit month 2 digit day 2 digit year)
        2. EXAMPLE: For student 123456 named Bill Smith born on May 9th 2001
        3. Username = 123456@gushd.net   |  Password = BS050901

      • Complete Attendance Form
        • You will be marked absent if you don’t do this
        • You MUST use your GUHSD.net email address for this.

 

 

      • Log into your CodeCademy.com account or create a CodeCademy.com account.
        1. If you already have an account, delete all of your activities or create a new account for this class.
          1. In a new tab, research “how do you delete your codecademy account”.
          2. Delete all of your activity in your codecademy account.
          3. If needed, create a new account after your old one is deleted. I’d suggest linking it to your facebook or gmail accounts.
          4. I will verify your CodeCademy account is reset on Tuesday.

 

      • Log into your Google Drive account.
        1. Create a new folder called “MrBenrudShared”.
          1. Share it with me (tbenrud@guhsd.net) and give me “edit rights”.
        2. Create a new Google Document in your”MrBenrudShared” and title it “YourName1stDay”.
          1. Add a numbered list.
            1. Point 1: In your own words tell me what HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript do related to “web design and development”.
              1. Feel free to use the resources available to you, but do not “copy/paste” your answer.
            2. Point 2: Write the code needed to do any of the following.
              1. Option #1: Display this image file on a web page.
                1. Image must be 250 pixels wide and 250 pixels tall.
                2. Image must be linked to the website mrbenrud.net
                3. Image must have the class of “GHSimages”
                4. The class of”GHSimages” must have the following attributes.
                  1. Center aligned
                  2. 5 pixel blue border
              2. Option #2: Write a PHP “if / else statement”
                1. If statement must check the “age” variable.
                2. If age is 18 or older, the page should display “You can vote!”
                3. If the age is less than 18, the page should display “You can’t vote yet :-(“
                4. Make sure your code includes the following.
                  1. opening/closing php tags.
                  2. Variable definition for “age”
                  3. A complete “if / else statement”
                  4. Function to display the conditional text
              3. Option #3: Write a JavaScript “if / else statement”
                1. If statement must check the “age” variable.
                2. If age is 18 or older, the page should display “You can vote!”
                3. If the age is less than 18, the page should display “You can’t vote yet :-(“
                4. Make sure your code includes the following.
                  1. opening/closing JavaScript tags.
                  2. Variable definition for “age”
                  3. A complete “if / else statement”
                  4. Function to display the conditional text
          2. Submit the document for a grade using my Submit Work form.

 

      • If you complete all of the above, quietly talk to the students around you. You need to get to know the other students because you will work with most of them throughout your time with me. They will help you and you will help them when I’m unavailable.

 

    • You are free to leave when the bell rings. Remember to place the headphones back on the computers.
